Reid

This kid has been on a roller coaster of sickness! Back in February, he woke up in the early morning and said he didn't feel well and climbed into bed with us, as usual Nate was kicked out and went to sleep on the couch. A couple of hours later (Nate was getting ready for work) I was awakened to Reid making lots of movement and making strange sounds. I rolled over and it took me a second to realize he was having a grand mal seizure. Of course I screamed for Nate, but he didn't hear me. So I sat there with Reid waiting for it to be over then grabbed Nate. He picked up Reid who was unresponsive, but moaning (very normal after a seizure). Nate started getting ready to take him into the ER and I decided to drive them there in case he had another one on the way so that Nate could be holding him. I woke up Adalie and told her I would be right back. Right before we walked out the door I decided to take his temperature which was about 101 degrees, which actually helped calm my nerves because he had, had a similar episode before.

About 6 months ago we were at a friends house and Reid was running around and happy. All of a sudden he ran to Nate and said he didn't feel well. Nate picked him up and Reid started having this full body jolt and his eyes would roll to the back of his head. He was unresponsive during the jolts. I panicked because he kept doing it. My friend offered to watch our kids and we ran over to Insta Care. Reid got right in, but of course the jolts stopped by then. The doctor said he was fine, but had a fever. He paid no attention to the jolts. I was frustrated, but felt there was nothing we could do. After my long searches into google I decided he had, had a febrile seizure. I still don't understand why the doctor didn't do or say anything about it. Anyways, back to February, since Reid had a fever (cause of febrile seizures) I decided to just call the doctor. About an hour before his appointment he started doing the jolts like he had 6 months ago. When we got to the doctors office he started having lots of them and had about 5 episodes in her office. She was very concerned because if they have more than one seizure that usually means there is a problem. She called the on call neurologist who said he wasn't concerned. Talk about emotions going up and down. However, Reid still has to be seen by the pediatric neurologist within the next 4 months. Now since this day, Reid had been very hard to live with. He was extremely cranky, which is not like him at all--within the last week he has started coming back to normal! I know I was not making this up in my head because even his preschool teacher said she was really struggling with him which has never been a problem in the past.

Right about the time he started feeling better he got a bad case of diarrhea that lasted for 2 weeks. While at a well check with Ryan, the doctor asked about Reid and decided to have his stool tested, which meant I got to get the sample out and into test tubes! It was awful and I was gagging!!! Lucky for Nate he was out of town. Also, during this time Reid got a cold again.... then the diarrhea went away and five days later he came down with a fever, so currently he is sick! His immune system sucks. I feel bad for this poor guy! I hope he will be on the mend soon and for good!
