Latest Happenings

We have been busy around here, but just the everyday kind of busy. Most of our days include going outside to the playground--we pretty much plan our day around it. I am really going to miss that about the Village once we move. Its a mother's and child's heaven! Adalie and Hallie have made many new friends and thank heavens Adalie has overcome her shyness! Adalie and Hallie's new friend Oakley came to play one morning. I didn't even notice it until I posted this picture but here we have "the Wicked Witch", "Glinda", and "Dorothy".
 They danced and danced!

We watched after our friends little girl one Saturday. Hannah and Hallie are only a month apart and have become great friends. Here Hannah is taking care of Hallie

Hallie, Oakley, and Adalie cooling off in the HOT HUMID weather!!

One afternoon Nate came home exhausted from school and took a little nap on the couch. Hallie wanted to make sure he was well taken care of. She brought him a blanket and her favorite baby. I think he is holding onto the basketball so he can feel somewhat manly.

One morning I came home to find this--they were playing "Mom" (Adalie's favorite game--at least she has moved away from "Mean Mom") Hallie finally understood the concept and played the baby roll. She was in my bed pretending to cry and wanted Adalie to bring her a blanket and love on her. It was so sweet!

Adalie wanted to take a bath in her swim suit and since Hallie had bathed earlier she was in watching Adalie. The next thing I hear was Adalie saying, "Oh no! Mom, Hallie got into the bath!" I ran in and Hallie was so excited to be in there that I had to take a picture.

Last but not least, Hallie wanting a picture of herself once again!

-We have made it to the beach once again
-Nate is trying to obtain a better golf score
-Hallie keeps waking up in the middle of the night and screaming for Adalie to wake up so she will go get mom for her. Adalie does it, but gets very mad at Hallie for waking her up--now she knows how we feel.
-I am having some VERY fun girls nights with a great group of girls!!
-Finally a funny story that proves we are an odd bunch: We were all in the car driving to the store while Nate takes his shoe off to smell the inside since he hadn't been wearing socks with them....the girls see him do this so Hallie asks if she can smell it. Nate and I think that is more weird than him doing it himself so he declined. Hallie screamed and was so upset that he took his shoe off and let her smell it. He took it back, then Adalie started crying because she didn't get the chance to smell it. Nate and I looked at each other and I said, "Are they really crying because they can't smell the inside of your nasty shoe?!?" Nate finally gives in and gave his shoe to Adalie for her smelling pleasure and then we lived happily ever after!

4th of July Weekend & Then Some

This 4th of July was very busy and a lot of fun. All day Friday Nate had 2 MAJOR exams! When he got home we went to celebrate that the two hardest weeks of the summer were over!! We went with our friends Brad and Shelley to eat at a yummy Mexican restaurant--we paid some babysitters which was extra nice for us! Saturday and Sunday we took it very easy and just relaxed. On Sunday night we went to Brad and Shelley's and some other friends from the MBA program came for smores and fireworks--they have a great backyard to entertain us all ;).

Monday was super busy and HOT for us! We live really close to an Amish city so we went to check it out. They have a very large farmers market where we bought homemade pretzels, bread, and popcorn. Then we went on a carriage ride because the only thing the girls wanted to do while we were there was to ride on the horses. On our way out of town we had to hit up a cheese factory for some smoked Gouda that Nate was dying to taste.

That afternoon we joined in on the "Village" festivities (our complex). There was bike decorating for the bike parade, a balloon artist, dinner, and bonfire. It was a great 4th however, we did not go to see any major fireworks which made me a little sad. We finally did see some fireworks this last weekend by taking the girls to a Silver Hawks baseball game (minor league team in South Bend) which they displayed at the end of the game.

The next day the girls and I met up with the other spouses in the MBA program and went to pick raspberries at a U-pick farm. We ate a lot while picking--oops. The next day the Village paid for us to go to the county fair on "Kids Day". They took us over on a bus which was nice. There were a whole bunch of little kitty rides, 4-H animals, and fair food. That day put us over the top. I was sooo tired as were my kids, but I love getting out of the house, otherwise we go crazy!!

We are still really liking it out here. I think we are all adjusting well and LOVE exploring new things!

Hallie was really tired and very dirty so I had to get a picture

Daddy helping Adalie color some stars for her bike

The girls were being so sweet and hugging so I ran to get the camera

Off to pick some berries

On the bus going to the county fair

Adalie and her friend Oakley--they LOVED this ride, poor Hallie was too small

Heaven for this little girl!

While we were there Aimee and I were interviewed on the local news--they never aired our shot :(
